Marina Abbey Meadows, Chertsey
This proposal explored the creation of a new marina within the Abbey Meadows area of Chertsey, transforming previously undeveloped green-field land into a high-quality waterside destination. The scheme was designed to accommodate approximately 150 berths with associated pontoons, decking and mooring infrastructure, alongside a floating facilities building incorporating harbour master accommodation, manager's accommodation and essential marina services.
The design approach focused on carefully balancing operational requirements with the site's sensitive Green Belt and flood zone designation. Particular emphasis was placed on integrating new facilities within the landscape, minimising visual impact and ensuring the development responded positively to its natural setting.
A key objective of the scheme was to deliver environmental enhancements alongside the new marina facilities. Opportunities were identified to strengthen existing habitats, improve green corridors and create a more attractive waterside environment that would benefit both marina users and the wider community, whilst contributing positively to the character and outlook of neighbouring properties.
