Robert Davies John West Ltd are experienced in the restoration, conversion and re-use of vernacular and listed buildings, as well as working in conservation areas. We endeavour to work sympathetically with the existing building form and fabric using traditional and appropriate materials and building techniques. This can be contrasted with sensitive modern additions to create stunning modern day living environments.

We have experienced sustained growth in residential sector work in the last few years. Our clients can be private individuals undertaking one-off projects, established and experienced builders and developers, as well as housing associations and local authorities. We are experienced in high-end housing both individual (UK & France) and multiple developments, social and private housing developments, as well as mixed-use and mixed-occupancy multi-storey developments.

Commercial

 

Projects include industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, retail and office developments. These vary greatly in scale and complexity and include developments up to around 50,000 sqft. Always mindful of the potential environmental impact larger commercial projects have, an affordable and sustainable heating and cooling system was incorporated for the Ascom Hasler office HQ, utilising a geothermal heat pump system with a grid of 100m deep bore holes. The first of its kind in the UK.

Robert Davies John West Ltd have worked on various schools, surgeries and hospital projects, these include nursery schools, work at both Epson and Kingston Hospitals and the recent completion of the Founders Building at Staines Prep School.

Staines Boat Club

Sport, Leisure & Community

 

We have also experienced sustained growth in this sector and have worked on various projects including a new pavilion at Shepperton Cricket Club, a Sports Hall at Streatham School, work to Staines Town Football Club and at the V&A museum. Our proposals for the redevelopment of Staines Boat Club have received unanimous support and approval from the local planning authority and we look forward to bringing this project to fruition.

Overseas & Development Work

Mwaya Beach Lodge Malawi

Our experience of work overseas, and in particular with sustainable and appropriate technologies in East Africa, is paying dividends with instructions on a number of new projects in Kenya, Malawi, Somalia and Bangladesh. We act as retained architects for Parry Building Products and have worked and completed a number of distinguished pioneering developments including the Sonda Orphan Care Centre, Ripple Africa Mwaya and the Cultural & Museum Centre Karonga.
