Robert Davies John West Limited handles projects across the UK and overseas. Our services range from feasibility studies and appraisals, concept and design development, through procurement to final completion and in-use assessments.
We have a proven track record for the successful delivery of a very diverse range of projects that includes institutional, commercial and private work from refurbishment and extensions to listed buildings to retail and commercial developments. We are involved in a number of projects in the developing world where we bring our expertise in appropriate technologies and community participation to the fore.
The continued success of the company relies not only on providing services that fulfill our clients requirements, both on time and to budget, but ultimately in the creation of architecture of the highest integrity, drawing on both our design philosophy and the environmental issues that play an increasing part in all our lives.

Bob Davies
Director
Bob founded the original partnership with John West in 1973, he had previously worked in London and studied architecture at Kingston School of Art & Architecture. He has now lead the practice for over 40 years and is experienced in all aspects of work from inception, through procurement to completion. Bob works largely from his 'atelier' in south west France and when not designing will be found working on his organic small-holding. Bob returns to the UK regularly and has been fully involved in the new Founders building project recently completed at Staines Preparatory School.
Rob Nursey BA(Hons) Dip Arch RIBA ARB
Director & Chartered Architect
Graduated at Portsmouth School of Architecture in 1979 and completed diploma studies specialising in urban design in 1982. Elected member of the RIBA and registered with the ARB in 1983. Experience includes - listed buildings, museums, hospitals, private residences, land development, retail, industrial, offices and residential. Primary interests are landscape potential, security and energy conservation.
Kevin M Davies BA(Hons) Dip Arch (Comm) RIBA ARB MIA
Director & Chartered Architect
Graduated at Kingston University in 1989 and completed diploma studies at South Bank University specialising in ecological design in 1992, awarded commendation. Elected member of the RIBA and registered with the ARB in 1996. Kevin has practiced in the UK, France and East Africa, was elected as a member of the Malawi Institute of Architects (MIA) in 2003 and has been instrumental in the delivery of numerous sustainable community development projects, conversion and restoration projects, as well as commercial, sport, leisure and tourism facilities. Kevin works from the satelite studio in Devon where the sun always shines.
Anna Madej MSc Eng. Arch ARB RIBA
Associate & Chartered Architect
Since joining the practice in 2014, Anna has gone on to finish her studies at Kingston University and in 2018 registered as a fully qualified architect with the ARB and as an elected member of the RIBA. Anna works from her studio in Western super Mare whilst continuing to run projects country wide. She has been instrumental in shifting the practice to the use of Revit software and continues to work on a number of high-profile mixed use developments. Anna is passionate about beautiful and elegant architecture and creating a fairer and just society. She also loves chocolate!
Ian Yarham
Senior Technician
Ian first joined the practice at the tender age of 17 and qualified under the day release technician scheme. He has worked on and run a huge range of projects over his long career, these include most use classes and at a variety of scales, from modest domestic projects to multi-million pound commercial developments. Ian excels at producing technical drawing packages and specifications whilst adopting a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
He now enjoys working part time which leaves him free to work on his motorbikes and classic car.
Aran Takhar BA(Hons) MArch
Architectural Assistant
Aran has rejoined the practice after completing his RIBA Part II studies. He will continue to play a pivotal support role in preparing and presenting major schemes and is now focussed on leading our marketing strategies. Aran will be gaining project management skills as well as technical and site experience whilst working towards his Part III.
If he's not playing football he'll likely be voyaging the continent or searching for the next gourmet coffee.
Zoe Halton
Architectural Assistant
Having graduated in Interior Architecture from The University of Pretoria, Zoe gained a wide range of experience before joining us in 2015. She now heads up architectural projects, primarily residential and commercial, across all RIBA work stages, from inception through to handover; as well as still being the first point of call for all things interior.
Outside of architecture Zoe is an avid baker and loves to travel, as well as functioning as our resident sommelier thanks to her South African palate for wine.
Libby Reynolds
Administrator
Libby first joined us at the young age of 18, her knowledge of our projects and Clients, past and present, is extensive. She is responsible for the administration of the Practice including submission of complex planning applications, arranging meetings, putting tender packages together and ensuring each stage of the planning process is monitored whilst liaising with Clients, Local Authorities and Consultants. When not at work, her now grown up family are the focus of her attention, although she may often be found watching a live band or exploring a town or city both home and abroad as she loves combining a walk with a stop at a good pub!
Sue Reed
Senior Accounts
Sue joined us in 2016 as a part time administrator working with the directors on complex and larger schemes requiring project management and detailed reporting to Clients. She is Part II ACCA qualified and has a wealth of experience in the private and public sectors managing projects and company accounts. Sue accepted the senior accounts position early in 2019 and is responsible for keeping the practice on a firm financial footing. If not nurturing her family, supporting a local activity, at the cinema or theatre she may well be away on travels or at the least buying another guide book and planning the next adventure!
